Myofascial pain syndrome is chronic muscle pain in your myofascial tissues. These tissues support the muscles throughout the body. The pain usually originates from trigger points within your myofascial tissues. This pain can occur after repeated injuries or chronic muscle overuse in the head, neck, shoulders, and lower back.
Myofascial release helps relieve pain caused by muscle tension while increasing the range of motion and circulation. Regular treatments can help break up scar tissue, heal sports injuries, reduce chronic pain (such as low back pain caused by long periods of sitting), and improve the body’s natural alignment and posture.
So, how does it work?
Pressure (light or firm, depending on the severity) is applied to the restricted fascia to stretch and elongate deeper layers of muscle tissue. Fascia is a connective tissue that surrounds every muscle, bone, nerve, and organ in the body.
